Catchin' Up

Okay... so I've lagged a bit on the updates... sorry :D
...I'll start this post while Camryn and Jaedon are napping (good grief they went down with a fight today!!!). I'll probably finish it later tonight.
...make that about 3 days in the making. LOL

Jaedon had his 4 year check up. Poor guy had to get shots. I HATE HATE HATE having to take them to get shots! I didn't tell him cause I didn't want him to work himself up. He did great with the first one, but apparently the second one "really hurt". He really cried. :( He was sitting on my lap sideways, with his right arm against me. The shot in his left arm didn't hurt him much, but the one in his right arm did. I'm thinking it must've been more difficult for the nurse to get to, so maybe she was at an awkward angle, which caused it to hurt more. Dunno. But anyway. He grew 3 inches within the last year and he's in the 70th percentile range for height.

Camryn is still going to Little Gym, although we are sad to hear they are shutting down. Their business is down 45% and they are not making any profit, so not only are they shutting down... they are closing before the semester ends. They have to give out refunds for those that paid the total upfront. Just another sign of the times. :(

Mat and I celebrated our 7th wedding anniversary on October 28th. Mom offered her "babysitting services" and we went to see Max Payne and ate sushi afterwards. :) It was nice. :) We barely get out, just the two of us.

Halloween was a blast. I took the kids to so many events the week before Halloween. Mat was teasing me. We went to 2 pumpkin patches, 3 school parties, and 2 rounds of trick-or-treating (one with Jaedon's school at the local college dorms, and one at Michael and Sandy's)! It was very eventful! Jaedon was Darth Vader without the mask. LOL! Like my friend Carrie said... "he's too cute to be a dark lord!" LOL!! Maybe next year he'll finally wear a mask. Camryn was Dorothy and she was adorable. She loved her sparkly shoes and she really got into the trick or treating. She'd say "trikatweet" in her sweet squeaky voice and blew me away at one point when she yelled out "HAPPY HAWOWEEN!" People were oooing and awwing over her everywhere. hehehe. Kori was Hanna Montana and Gwen was Dora. They were both very cute! Poor little Dora's hair got increasingly mangled throughout the night, as well as crooked. LOL! When me, Camryn, and Gwen had enough, we split from Sandy, Kori, and Jaedon and they went to a "haunted house". Apparently, Jaedon did really well! I'm so proud of my brave boy! ;) When everyone was back at the house, they dumped out their goodies and Kori took it upon herself to go through Jaedon's candy and pull out all the pieces with nuts! What a sweetie! Then the kids and I spent the night at their house, eating popcorn and watching Tinkerbell. :) It was fun.

A few days later, I celebrated my 36th birthday by going to the grocery store and watching the election on TV. lol We let Jaedon stay up late, while history unfolded in front of our eyes. I felt really emotional as the first African American president elect spoke. A whole new world was opening up for our kids. I told Jaedon that he could be anything he wanted to be when he grew up... even the President of the United States. Why anyone would want to be President is besides the point... lol But he was genuinely excited. I'm pretty sure he was thinking more along the lines of being Iron Man or something. LOL!! But with a little coaxing he ran down to daddy's office and said "DADDY!! I can be the President!" LOL I thought Mat would get a kick out of that, and he did... and replied "yes you can".

The next evening, we all celebrated Grandpa's 87th birthday with a chicken dinner at Knott's Berry Farm! Another great time with family as usual! :) And, boy, does Grandpa just adore his great grandkids! :)

On the 6th, Camryn got her first haircut! ...Just a trim. :)

On Saturday we met up with Jaedon's friend, Megan, and her family at Thomas Day Out! The kids had a blast!

I called Heather on the way to see Thomas, because there were a bunch of fires in LA county. Specifically Sylmar, where they live. She said they had just checked into a hotel. The fire came within about a block of their house and there was ash and smoke everywhere. She said, "I just hope I don't go into labor. That's the first time I've said that in a while!"
...Well come to find out, she woke up in their hotel room in pain at 3am and headed to the hospital. Since she wasn't dilating, they almost sent her back "home". She was in a panic thinking about leaving the hospital in such pain. The doctors reconsidered and it's a good thing they did, because she went from no dilation to "I need to push" in about 15 minutes!! How that happens, I have no idea. I think her water broke and little Riley just bolted for the exit!! Holy cow!! She said she had no time for an epidural and she screamed bloody murder. She said she's never heard herself scream like that... she sounded like an animal! Crazy!!
So anyway... little Riley Robert Lapacka was born November 15th, at 6am, weighing 8lbs. 1oz. :) Jaedon and Camryn have a new cousin (or is that "second cousin"?)... with another one due in a couple weeks!

Okay... I think that pretty much gets everyone up to date! ;)
...Until next time!
